Summer Trip Day 1 : AirAsia X Flight From KL to Gold Coast

By admin | February 8, 2010

We arrived LCCT airport at around 7.30pm, 2 and 10 mins before our flight. When we arrived, the departure hall check in counter already got many people queue up already. That was a long queue. Lena and her husband took our luggage and passport to queue and check in first, while fatty and I took our dinner at Marry Brown. Oh yes, we did not manage to do online check in for this flight, not sure why. I could not find Gold Coast in destination column when want to online check in. Therefore, we have no choice to check in at counter. We finished dinner half hour later and back to the queue, it took us another 15 minutes to be our turn to check in.

When I check in the luggage, only realize that why do we not need to scan our luggage? Is real, I could not see any scanning counter in LCCT international departure hall and nobody stop us from check in as well. Strange oh? Anyway, my 24” hard cover luggage checked in at 19.4kgs and Lena’s luggage was 14.5kg.

It was already 8.30 after checked in the luggage. We decided to go into boarding area. Another tips to share in this trip, as we know water is not allow to bring into boarding area, custom officer would check when you go pass the scanning area. However, you could buy water after that. There are cafe and stall selling bottled water. In addition, the boarding gate officers do not check our luggage, so we bring in bottled water safely. Ha-ha

Steward serving food at 11.30pm (Malaysia time) and last round of serving at 4am (Malaysia time). We was not know about it until 4am they announced that “who has not redeem their pre-book hot meal please redeem now”. After confirmed with a steward we only know that pre-book meal could redeem at anytime we want and not necessary at the first round of serving! If we know early, we would not redeem the meal at midnight already. It would be great to be breakfast instead of late supper because we do not feel hungry at all after boarding. However, now at 4am, my stomach already starting to play music! Hungry ler..

International Meal – Smoke Children – taste not bad

Vegetarian Meal – See Chuan Rice – surprisingly its taste good!

How is the condition of our seat? Our seat is economic seat and what you get is what you paid. Cheap seat. Haha…The seat is small enough to let fatty and me have skin contact and could not sleep well at all. We used more than 1 hour to decline the seat, it was just 1.5 inch decline, and our leg length has to minus that 1.5 inch. 8 hours flight journey I could only nap for 2 hours with keep wake up due to uncomfortable. Lucky only two of us in the 3 seats row, no other people assign to sit beside us. Therefore, Fatty could sit at the outside and left the middle seat empty. Anyway, that could not help me to sleep longer time. Same uncomfortable. I felt that this seat of Airbus 330 is smaller than the Flight to Hong Kong. Why huh?

Port Dickson : Thistle Hotel Buffet Breakfast

By admin | February 5, 2010

We have the buffet breakfast in the  “Fresh” Restaurant in the hotel. Lucky it is free with room, if not we have to pay for RM38++ and RM19++ for child.

Well, food selection is not much actually, so it is not worth to pay that amount.

Staff working there seem like not good in English, I have asked 2 – 3 waitress/waiter in the restaurant to find me a bigger table that fit 8 persons. 1 walked away and I thought she go check for me but actually she go to find her manager. 1 run back to kitchen(?) and ignore me. 1 pretend no heard my question.

Well, from their reaction, I think they were scared than no manners!   Of course, the manager solved the problem and arrange a bigger table for us finally.

Port Dickson : Thistle Hotel Ocean View Room

By admin | February 2, 2010

Search few days for Port Dickson hotel but could not find one that is satisfied, most of the Port Dickson hotel and apartment is old fashion and I am worry they are not clean enough. Almost give up to holiday at Port Dickson, lucky I found the Thistle Hotel (Previously called Guoman Hotel). Read online only know that it is newly renovated hotel that reopen at June 2009.

I am quite tempting to stay in this hotel after look at their photos. Although I could not find many photos online but those limited photos looks beautiful. Booked 4 Deluxe Twin rooms with breakfast at PYOtravel website cost RM250.00 per room, that the cheapest price I could found online.

They auto upgrade our room to Ocean view although we booked garden view room. I thought they would arrange rooms at same area for us but they didn’t. And I forgot to call for verify also. So we force to stay in separate level and area. We got room at first floor, 2 at 3rd floor and 1 at 5th floor! oh my… really separate as far as they could.

  1. Room at first floor – Super king size bed + swimming pool view (ocean view but block by swimming pool).
  2. Connecting room at 3rd floor – Slightly bigger than Queen size bed with two balconies, one is connecting with another room.
  3. Room at 5th floor – Super king size bed + nice ocean view.

My children enjoy the swimming pool very much. They have nice pool for the children and adults. However, the hotel room does not have good soundproofing. It is very noise even at night. We could heard people talking, close / open close and even people walking at outside! .. Not that hotel got “dirty” thing but their soundproofing is bad!

Super big king size bed that could sleep up to 4 persons.

Side bed could sleep 1 adult too.

View from first floor room.

View from 5th floor room.

Summer Trip : Free Shuttle Bus at Macau Ferry Pier

By admin | January 31, 2010

I already know there are many free shuttle bus operated by hotel in Macau before I am there. Lucky I know this early, if not I think I would pay those so call cheap tour fees to travel agent who keep promote their tour.

I am not sure he is a  travel agent or just a driver who want to earn extra money. He come to us when we arrived. He saw us the big Macau map and promoting his half day tour around whole Macau. And he said he charge the cheapest of MOP1,000.00 for our big group since we need a bigger car. And then would transfer us back to hotel after the tour. He seems me no response, then reduce the tour package to MOP500.00. Then I simply rejected him and said we do not want to carry so many luggage and want to go hotel first. Then, he offer MOP200 to send us to hotel and said we might having problem to take taxi around there.

haha.. He thought I know nothing about Macau. Who want to pay MPO200 for something I could get it free? So I ignore him and bring my family out. Then we saw so many shuttle bus waiting outside the port already. All Hotel bus is waiting at outside, there look like a quite big hotel shuttle bus station. You would not get lose because there are people who hold the hotel name there and you just need to find the hotel you book. Then they would direct you to the shuttle bus or tell you when the bus would arrived.

We just waited about 15 mins for the bus and then arrived hotel 7 – 10 mins after.

Summer Trip : Ferry from Tsim Sha Shui to Macau

By admin | January 29, 2010

We planned to take the 1pm Ferry to Macau at Tsim Sha Shui Pier. Therefore, check out at 11.30am at hotel and get everything done before 12pm. Took two taxis to Tsim Sha Shui Pier with less than HKD20 each had saved our problem. We do not have to carry or tow our luggage to walk for way.

Arrived China Ferry Terminal at 12.15pm, get parent & kids to rest a while there. Then, I went to buy ferry ticket for them. I saw two counters there. One is the Ferry company counter and another one is agent counter ( i think). Ferry ticket fare is cheaper on lunch time. if no mistake ferry departure between 1pm – 2 pm is having discount. I am trying to find more cheaper price, so I go to ask at the agent counter to see if they could offer me better price. Too bad, they said they do not have discounted ferry price at this hours, only Ferry company itself is selling that discounted ticket.

Finally I bought 8 tickets at the ferry counter at HKD128.00 each. One way ticket to Macau because we are leaving from Macau Airport. Stupid me totally forget child above ONE year old need to buy ticket also! I rush to counter to buy another ticket for my 3 years old kid while queue to board! :p

We spent some times at Aji Ichiban (优之良品) to buy candy, chocolate and snacks.

The ferry is big and we didn’t check in our luggage but only hand carry. I was worry my 29″ hard cover luggage is over size too, but lucky they do not care about it. :p .. we placed our luggage at the front of ferry, they have special space to hold all the passengers luggage.

Whole journey from Tsim Sha Shui to Macau is about 60 – 70 minutes. And We all become ais-cream in that 1 hour time! I never expect there would be so cold in ferry so I didn’t prepare jacket for SQ and Kiki! All was packed well in our big luggage and closed well. hard to dig out. Lucky, I have few T-shirt is hand carry in a plastic bag. I just used them to cover the children. Else really will catch cold in ferry liao. Siao cold! I also cannot stand for it and keep shake! haii
