Summer Trip : Si Chuan Restaurant (满江红川菜)
By admin | October 15, 2009
September 02, 2009 (6.30pm – 8.00pm)
We are planning to take taxi to 华强北 for dinner, I was so tempting to try the Si Chuan Food. I read review online regarding the 满江红 Si Chuan Restaurant, comment not bad, especially their 水煮鱼. Therefore I decided to try it. We walk to the main road and stop two taxi to bring us there. It about 10 – 15 minutes drive from Dong Meng to Hua Qiang Bei and cost us RMB20 each.
I was not know where is the restaurant actually. I am trying my luck to walk around and hopefully we found it on the way we walk around. haha
The taxi driver told me Hua Qiang Bei should visit at morning as it is the most merry street in Shenzhen in day time while Dong Men is the best for night visit. Well, the time we arrived Hua Qiang Bei street is quite pack actually but is transport pack not people pack.
many cars parked at roadside causes traffic jam.
Anyway, we were lucky to find the restaurant. I wasn’t notice when I stand in front of the restaurant at all. I still asking fatty where is the restaurant actually.
Restaurant environment was not as good as I though. Well, a bit smelly when we walk in. Anyway, I think the cleanness of the bowl, cup, spoon and chopstick is good as all of them are packed well with plastic placed on each table. We have to tear the plastic to get our sets. Ok lah..

The fish they served us was about 3kgs, it definitely too big for us (5 adults + 3 kids). But they said that was the smallest they have. So we have no choice to get it, but I decide to separate the fish in two cooking method. first is Spicy Boiled fish (麻辣水煮鱼) and the other one is vegetable boiled fish (酸菜水煮鱼). I like the spicy one, although it is very spicy but it is very fragrance which I never taste before. The fragrance is not only when you smell it but is when you tasting it. Hard to tell how it taste ohh..I miss the taste after back to Malaysia.

They called this 手打, not sure where the name come from. It look like Wantan to me. Or it is wantan ler? :p Taste good also.

Taohu with crab egg?
