Summer Trip Day 7 : Shopping Time At Surfers Paradise
By admin | May 6, 2010
Today is themost relaxing day we have in this Gold Coast Trip. We have no plan where to go and what to do for today. I purposely make this day as free and easy day. Is a day to go to the beach and watch ladies in bikini! Haha…
I wake up at 8am and dilylala for breakfast and some chat. Then only went out to walk at 10am. I requested hotel to help me booked a taxi at tomorrow 6.15am to Gold Coast Airport. The reception told us it take about 40 minutes to airport and cost around AUD50 – 60.
Then, we used a public telephone to make a booking at Four Winds restaurant for tonight seafood buffet dinner. According to the booklet we got from hotel, it cost AUD58.00 per person at weekday. However, today is Friday and they consider as weekend already. So, we have to pay AUD61.75 per person after 5% discount. 2 sectiion is available for selection, one is 5pm – 7pm and another one is 8pm-10pm. We selected the 8pm – 10pm.

Then we walk around at circle street. We went into MNG shop first and husband are waiting us at outside, today would be a shopping day for us too since it is already last day for us. I am not a branded fan, so I do not know is they selling cheap or not. But according to Lena, the price is not cheap but they have latest designs then Malaysia.

Next,. We went into DFS GalleriaDuty free shop. Our husband already become rock at outside because we spent a hour there to check out Coach, Fendi, LeSportSac, Burberry & etcs. Well, I am the one who want to go in but to accompany Lena go only but ended up I also bought a LeSportSac wistlet.

There are two price showed in the products tag, one is export price and another one is retail price. According to the salesgirl we have to apply a shopping card in level 3 to enjoy the export price. This application would need our passport and flight ticket (to show them when is our return date). We paid the retail price and they packed the things so tied. Oh yes, we could not use the item in Australia if purchase with export price. Item only could use after leave Australia. The items clip with a Export sales docket that have to give to custom officer when we check in at Airport.
I also bought a kangaroo Scrotum at AUD16.00 as the salesgirl recommended. She said this is made by genius Kangaroo Scrotum and Australian believe that if you put some money in the pocket, it would bring you wealth! I do not mind it would bring us wealth or not but I am interested in the Kangaroo Scrotum! This surely a great souvenir for the trip.
Next item to buy is Abalone! I heard that Australia Abalone is very famous and cheap too. Since Chinese New Year is another 3 weeks to go only, so Lena and me would buy some for our family. We went to a shop name 88 abalone (Couldn’t really remember is this name or not) at Surfers Paradise, but the shop would only open at 1pm – 9.30pm. Another half hour to go, so we decided to take lunch first. Two man suggested must try Chinese food this time, I think they are die hard for rice after so many days on burger and chips. Haha (I would blog about our first Chinese lunch at Gold Coast in next post)
After lunch, we back to the 88 abalone shop to check the abalone price again. Abalone in tin that weight 180gram(?) is selling at AUD150 for 3 cans. And ready to eat Abalone is selling at AUD50 for 2 packs. The seller teach us how to differential the weight and quantity in can by looking at their printing. At bottom of the can would printed something like F2/160 or F1/180, front is it quantity and the back is the weight. I do not know much about abalone, I only know that the bigger the better. Haha
Anyway, the price still higher than what we surveyed first day in Gold Coast. So, we decided not to buy there and just walk out.
